Pender Community Hospital to Open New Emerson Medical Clinic and Emerson Apothecary
Pender, NE(September 23, 2019) - In keeping with the mission of Pender Community Hospital to provide a continuum of exceptional healthcare services to our community, we are proud to announce the October 2nd opening of the new Emerson Medical Clinic and Emerson Apothecary. The new facilities will open just half a block down from the current location. The new spaces will feature substantially more square footage-almost 4,900-plus plenty of other features that will benefit patients and community members.
"The Emerson Medical Clinic will include onsite X-ray and five new patient rooms with increased privacy, and space for multiple providers," says Pender Community Hospital CEO, Melissa Kelly. Privacy measures for the four exam rooms and one treatment room include door sweeps and extra insulation to make rooms more sound secure. Additionally, the space will allow two providers to see patients simultaneously, greatly increasing the clinic's capacity. The benefits of onsite X-ray are numerous, says Kelly, but most important is ease of patient experience. Now patients who need them can simply walk down the hall and have them done. It's faster for the patient and much more convenient than having to go to a second location.
"When you're already not feeling well, having X-ray onsite is a big help," says Kelly. She adds that Xray results will be interpreted more quickly than before, thanks to everything-and everyone- being in the same place.
The biggest difference, however, might be the addition of the Emerson Apothecary, a retail pharmacy, to the Emerson Medical Clinic. The pharmacy will be onsite so that prescriptions can be filled with ease, directly after appointments. It's also one of only five telepharmacies in the state of Nebraska-and the first in northeast Nebraska to offer telepharmacy services-including remote drug therapy monitoring and patient counseling.
Adding to the ease and efficiency of care, says Kelly, is the pharmacy's drive-through. "The pharmacy will also have a drive-through for patients picking up refills," she says. "As well as convenience items like over-the-counter medication, diapers, and other supplies. We couldn't be more excited to bring these much needed services and products to Emerson."
